CLAMPCRETE BARRIER SYSTEMS
FAQ's
Is the system readily available?
Yes. Standard 20' length barriers and other system components may be in stock for prompt delivery after the usual approval processes.
...the Future of Highway Safety
Is the system approved by the FWHA?
Yes, the FHWA approved the system after successfully passing the full-scale Crash-test performed in1989. The system is approved for the PL-2 / TL-4 loading conditions.
Which states have installed the Clampcrete system on their bridge projects?
MA, NH, CT, RI, NY, ND, LA, VA, PA.
Is it possible to procure the Clampcrete system components separately from different sources and still achieve the certified crash-tested system?
No. The system has to be certified by the Clampcrete Construction Systems. Only Clampcrete can guarantee the delivery of genuine components to the crash-tested system. The barrier is manufactured by a Clampcrete Authorized Precaster that must follow both the Clampcrete crash-test designs and meet their quality standards. The steel anchor bolt (Kelibondanchor) was developed specifically to meet the demands of the crash-test and has a unique thread configuration. Neither the anchor, nor the polyester resin Keligrout, can be substituted and still meet our crash-test standards. In other words, Clampcrete will provide you with a complete Certified Crash-tested System.
Can a project-specified cast-in-place concrete bridge parapet or medians be substituted by the precast concrete Clampcrete barrier system?
Yes. Many CIP parapets and medians have been substituted by the precast Clampcrete system.
Is the Clampcrete system removable when used in temporary work zones?
Truly so. The system can be transported from one project to another and from a temporary installation to a permanent or another temporary one. Anchors provided for temporary barriers are specially coated so that they may be removed at a later date.
What about the installation during the cold winter months?
You can install the Clampcrete system in just about every kind of weather. Please refer to the Keligrout technical information for the parameters.
Can the system be installed on curved alignments of the parapets and medians?
Yes, up to 200' radius approximately.
What is the standard length of the Clampcrete barrier?
20 feet. Other lengths are engineered and available between 12' and 20'.
Do you install the system?
No, but we do help the process by providing the guidance, detailed instructions and training of the supervision needed to assure the proper installation of the system.
How about engineering and layout drawings?
We prepare the shop-drawings from your layout drawings. For permanent installations, we can also provide you with updated layout drawings. We will also provide the engineering help required in order to obtain the necessary approvals for the Clampcrete crash-tested system.
